AT the outset, I don't know anything about type one Diabetes. I really feel sorry for people who need to do everything I need to do on a daily basis, but as well, to inject themselves, or take medication to provide for extra insulin. It is such a bother, but a life saving necessity. I can only review or comment on type two Diabetic responses, as I suffer from the same problem and have had some success so far, and of course, dieting as well. This bar is a classic nutrition bar, with the same great ratios of carbohydrate, protein, and fat. You might think that I am repeating myself in this review, and I suppose I am a little, but it is very important to know why this bar works so very well. Let me explain why this nutrition bar is substantially different. The problem that many people share is the lack of will associated with trying to modify your diet. There are two reasons for this, and one of them is for psychological reasons - the habits that you have created in your life previously. I also think that social eating is wrapped in this same psychology. This is a battle by itself, but the biggest problem I have found is the dropping of blood sugar. I used to think that my blood sugar was too low, and it was for so many years, but the only thing you can really feel is a drop in blood sugar - not the real blood sugar value. This drop in blood sugar signals to your body and your mind that you should be eating something. If this is the physical, opposed to psychological, there is a demand on you to eat. This is very hard to ignore, and it is probably because there is, metaphorically speaking, a million years of evolution that has gone into making sure that we are fed. This second battle was the most difficult one for me, and so the solution is to: (1) not allow your blood sugar levels get too high, and (2) keep them from dropping too quickly. This is difficult to do, but I have tried many different bars, and only the ZonePerfect nutrition bars are able to give me the carbohydrate energy my body needs throughout the day. I don't feel starved, but more importantly the bar is scientifically designed to allow a slow release of energy into my system. I don't have the physical craving, and even after a number of hours, my blood sugar will gently come down from NOT an abnormally high level. I have documented this with my own "at home" blood glucose meter. I have been exceptionally happy with this nutrition bar's design. It works well. Now, about this particular bar, the Strawberry Yogurt flavour is a nice light flavour. I use this as an everyday sort of break in the day bar. Quite frankly, after my good breakfast, I have 1/2 of these bars two hours later, and then another 1/2 bar about two hours after lunch. On very frantic days, I consume the entire bar at breaks - the caloric content is not THAT great. You need to be organized though. These nutrition bars are not lying around waiting to be eaten, but you need to plan to have these in advance. My EDC (everyday carry bag) has at least two of these bars in it - potentially one per break. But what other people eat at break can really spoil your day, if you eat what other people eat. If you are dieting or a diabetic, a simply donut can put you into a dietary tailspin - you need to have these in advance - waiting to rescue you from the temptation and of course the tailspin.I have one of these boxes (and have ordered others too) arrive to me each month. Check out the subscription pricing as well - once you are sold on this.I have written a lot here, and hope that it will help you. The zoneperfect bars have helped me a lot, and I have not only lost many pounds, but have kept my type 2 diabetes in check. My handling of stress is my problem now, but it is most assuredly NOT the social eating anymore, and it is not the cravings that rapidly falling blood sugar will produce.
