But way too expensive for shampooRedken makes your hair look soft and controls split endsLove the smell. I would have preferred a thicker consistency but I also co wash so it's ok. Doesn't feel as clean the first wash. Does have potential to be amazing. It seems to help with damage but you have to be careful not to over use or it will cause more breakage. Wish it was better for the price! This shampoo and conditioner regime really does repair my hair.It does the job and I’m a HUGE Redken fan only product I will useI am in my early 50's, and have a combo of gray and red hair. Needless to say my hair is very coarse and dry. I bought this product on the recommendation of my stylist. I absolutely LOVE IT!! A little dab will do ya and when the conditioner is applied, it's super easy to run my hands through my hair. Granted, I do use additional product when I get out of the shower (gel), however, I attribute the softness of my hair to the combo shampoo/conditioner. A little expensive but TOTALLY WORTH IT!!This shampoo is great. I have very dry hair due to dying it. This shampoo helped restore the dryness to my hair. This is my wife’s shampoo/conditioner of choice currently. We both use it and it works well. Price is high, get what you pay for…? I have caught it on sale once on Amazon, $10-15 off a bottle. Wait for a sale if you can.Short review: It stinks, it strips, and it doesn’t work well either. (Scroll to bottom for ingredients)Long review: I have very wavy, dry hair that craves protein-rich formulas. I also have some issues with damage from frequent heat styling. I occasionally use Redken’s “Color Magnetics” —while it doesn’t knock my socks off, I keep it in rotation. I’m not brand loyal and enjoy experimenting with products along many brands and price points. I don’t necessarily consider SLS and parabens to be a great evil, I just seek formulas that work for me and that suit whatever need I have going on at the time. This stuff had good reviews across the sites I checked and so I ordered some for a curb pick up at a local beauty store; they fulfilled the conditioner but the shampoo was missing so I turned to Amazon (since of course the claim is you need the entire product line to achieve the full benefits). Well…I wish I hadn’t bothered and am grateful I stuck to the trial size. I currently sport a choppy pixie so find myself using styling products marketed to men because they work best with my hair length; I’ve built up a tolerance to smelling more like a guy than I ever wanted to. But the scent of this shampoo is way too strong— decidedly masculine and far, FAR more potent than I could take. The overwhelming fragrance reminded me of being dragged along to salon appointments in the 1980s…Redken products haven’t aged very well IMO. But I can get over a bad fragrance if the results dazzle. And dazzled I was not. It didn’t do much of anything for me other than over-lather and reek to the point it made my eyes burn from the cologne stench. So I passed it along to my husband. But that’s when it went from merely cloying and unimpressive to troubling……in early summer he shaved his hair into a mohawk and then I bleached and colored it (one of the pandemic’s work-from-home ‘perks’). In fairness, Redken doesn’t advertise this as a color-safe formula, rather it’s a product for distress/damage. But they also don’t advise you to not use it if you have colored hair. Hubby’s been using $1.19 V05 for years—and happily continued to use this same old cheap ‘volumizing’ formula post-coloring—and yet his color remained enviably vibrant. Then I gave him this Redken Extreme four months into his dye job. He used it once and he came out of the shower telling me how fun it was that the suds turned the same color of his hair. That wasn’t sarcasm, he seemed rather amused this stuff had stripped his dye… because he’s a dude who isn’t bothered by such things. But if you color your hair and don’t possess the same nonchalance of my husband, do NOT use this shampoo. FOUR months after a dye job one should NOT see color deposit in suds. Even when the first ingredient is SLS. So whatever they’ve put in this may provide results for some…but it must be borderline sinister to cause this ‘extreme’ of color-stripping; whatever ingredient combo Redken has concocted seems counter intuitive for true hair health. I’d recommend it more for a clarifying shampoo (for product buildup) but this is not marketed as such…and most people shouldn’t use a clarifying shampoo more than every few weeks. It also would work for masking that ashtray smell after a smoke-filled party or for a post-DIY mayonnaise treatment gone wrong. I am utterly baffled by how this has any fans at all. As a general rule for normal hair types, shampoos with high lather typically aren’t the best for your hair. And all this additional fragrance offers 0 benefit to distress as well. Mmmm but “Protein Complex for compromised hair” sounds soooo good!I suspect Redken continues to have a following due to their nearly ubiquitous presence in neighborhood salons. And that they hope in 2020 enough people will still believe ‘rinse and repeat’ is a good idea…and that high lather products, ones brilliantly targeted to very specific hair needs, can work real magic. I possibly abandoned this too quickly but I don’t have the patience for weeks of multiple washings to achieve results. Women with over processed hair, like myself, should avoid this. I know that it’s possible to get a repairing, protein rich formula that won’t weigh down my hair AND won’t prematurely fade color. I don’t gripe about the price of any product if it *works* but I think they’re taking us for a ride with the oodles of formulas they offer. It’s like thinking Science Diet is a fabulous pet food merely because your vet stocks it or that if you have a backache, you can’t reach for Excedrin’s migraine formula. Such marketing shenanigans.Aqua/Water/Eau, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Coco-Betaine, Glycol Distearate, Sodium Chloride, Dimethicone, Parfum/Fragrance, Cocamide Mipa, Sodium Benzoate, Hexylene Glycol, Salicylic Acid, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Carbomer, Cetyl Alcohol, Sodium Cocoyl Amino Acids, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Quaternium-33, Potassium Dimethicone Peg-7 Panthenyl Phosphate, Benzyl Benzoate, Sodium Sarcosinate, Propylene Glycol, Limonene, Benzyl Alcohol, Arginine, 2-Oleamido-1,3-Octadecanediol, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Linalool, Fumaric Acid, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein Pg-Propylsilanetriol, Phenoxyethanol, Tetrasodium Edta, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Hydroxide, Citric Acid (D184533/1) Us Pat./Brevet Américain: 6,294,160.I’ll start my saying i’m generally a pretty low maintenance kinda person. I’ll also say that the idea of spending £35 on a shampoo gave me cold sweats! However, lockdown made me experiment with my hair, and during the experimentation, the bleach came out, and i’m now a blonde. It’s all good, i like it.What I don’t like is the random snapping which has been happening ALL OVER MY HEAD, and waking up looking like a scarecrow. My hair hasn’t felt healthy in months, i’ve tried everything! Hair masks which has left my head feeling like i’ve dipped it in a chip pan, overnight conditioner which has ruined my pillows, purple shampoo, blue shampoo, the blood of a goat, NOTHING helped. But this £35 miracle along with the conditioner has made my hair feel silky and smooth in just a couple of washes. The lather is brilliant, and the conditioner works immediately.I love it, and i’m very happy i remortgaged my house to afford it.Redkin Extreme is the only ‘beauty’ item I get because it is so much better for me than any other shampoo I’ve tried. My scalp feels better and hair looks better. Although I don’t go to the hair salon much or even wear make-up, I will pay out for Redkin. I’ve tried the more budget friendly shampoos again during the pandemic, but they just don’t work for me. This bottle lasts me about 12 weeks, so costs around £10/month which doesn’t sound quite so indulgent!I hardly ever leave reviews but I am so impressed with this product.Due to damage, I was losing a lot of hair in the shower for the last year or so.I switched to this shampoo and also purchased the conditioner too.No kidding, just after one wash my hair already looks healthier. Beautiful smell too.No looking back!I have been highlighting my hair some quite some time now. And when having curly hair it is difficult to find a product that works. If this is your situation. You jave found the correct product. Totally recommended. My hair had been highlighted cheaply and it was like straw. I was having to leave moroccan oil masks in every time i washed my hair. Then I used this shampoo and matching conditioner and it all changed dramatically! I could wash my hair and condition it normally with this Redken Extreme and it seemed to immediately improve the condition and now, a few months later my hair is thick and shiny and looks incredibly healthy. I'm very pleasantly surprised! A few people have even commented on how good my hair now looks. Apparently you shouldn't use it all the time as it causes protein build up ? but i use it 3 weeks in a month and then the 'so soft' version for a week and i'm happy with that.
